Child safety, just one click away

Not long ago we highlighted a study that exposed the dismal rate of product safety monitoring among Americans, and asked for ideas about how safety recall alerts can be better delivered in the digital age.

Click, Check, Protect

Well, thanks to our readers we discovered Click, Check and Protect, a valuable new safety service for concerned parents and teachers.

CCP, from the folks at Consumer Reports, is a free weekly email digest including every safety recall that could affect children up to the age of 18 — think toys, lunch foods and recreation gear. For example, this week’s email includes warning about WP Combination Grills, United Natural Foods Black Bean Tortillas and Arctic Cat ATVs, all based on up-to-date reports from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

In what appears to be a US first, the CCP team also offers an SMS alert service that delivers new safety recall information directly to your cell. All the details are on the CCP homepage, where you will also find regular product safety updates.
