Game of cards, anyone? There’s nothing like spending a Friday night chillin’ with some friends or family in your very own game room. If you think creating the ideal home game room is difficult, think again. A home game room doesn’t have to be expensive. All you need is a spare room, a fresh coat of paint for your walls, some neon signs and, of course, lots of games.
WIN IT We’re giving away the Poker Chip Set featured here. Think your dad deserves it? Tell us why on our Facebook page to enter the contest and he could take home this and other amazing prizes!
If you’ve got a finished basement or large empty room, use it. If your game room will focus on cards and chip games, then you can go with a smaller room, such as an unused kid’s room or home office.
Tip Figure out what games you want to play and whether your room has enough space. Will a Foosball or billiard table leave enough space to move around? How big can your poker table be?
Plain white walls scream snooze fest not game time. Instead, go for a two-toned wall color scheme that includes a top border around the room (12-24 inches in width) and a complimentary color in the rest of the wall. Think of your favorite sports team or university jersey to come up with a color scheme that won’t offend the eyes.
Tip Choose a darker shade for you border and a lighter shade as your main wall color.
Your home game room is the place where you can pay tribute to your favorite professional sports team, university or even drink. To make sure the room looks cohesive, though, make sure you choose one theme only and stick to it. Seriously. There are hundreds of logos to choose from but here we stuck to the vintage look of Coca Cola.
Here comes the fun part: shopping for games! You’ll need furniture, accessories and, of course, a few posters or neon sign for décor.
